Eco Bag

Do you have an eco bag? I have my eco bag and sometimes bring it when I go to a grocery store. Or when I buy a couple of small things, I don't get the plastic bag for environment.
At a clothing shop, I saw a sign which says that if you don't need the plastic bag, let a clerk know that, and you'll get extra 5points on your point card. It is a really nice idea! The system is good for everyone, we can get extra points, shops save plastic bags that means cost cut, and we can save important natural resources, eco-friendly!
Recently, plastic bags which clothing shops give us is pretty and durable. So we can use the plastic bags again and again. Or we can use cloth bag, eco bag many times. I think it is cool that using an eco bag or a plastic bag many times and save natural resources not to waste them. Good for us and good for the earth! Why don't we use eco bag??

Water

Japan is blessed with abundant clean water, and we can get and drink just by turning on a tap. But, several days ago, I saw a movie which says that Japan imports huge amounts of mineral water from Europe, about 580,000kl/1,160,000,000 (500ml)bottles every year. I was so surprised that much water Japan imports, in spite of our abundant, clean and tasty water. Importing water takes money and much fuel... I calculated its food miles(could not calculate for ship transport though). If we import water from France by train, that would create 604kg CO2 or 165kg carbon...
Why we buy so much mineral water from Europe? May be they are from Europe so they seem cool? I used to maybe sometimes still do buy them, because some of them are cheaper than Japanese ones. But thinking about environment, Japanese ones are so much good and I think they are cheaper compared to money which costs for environmental measures.
We don't need to import water from other countries, we have enough clean tasty water! We are lucky to live in a good environment with water. In the world, so many people can't get clean water and are suffered from water problem... We should thank for our abundant water resource.
